LET'S TALK FAITH

James 2:20 -   When will you ever learn that “believing” is useless without doing what God wants you to? Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith.

What is faith as far as you are concerned?  How to you approach it when you know you need to exercise faith?  Some of us look at it as a state of mind.  You know, positive thinking, or what I even heard some people say, I am not going to let the devil let me think that, or other such things. Actually, all due respect to you, that is very foolish thinking.

According to our insight scripture today, faith is very active, never passive.

It is a commitment. 

 Real faith is demonstrated by life action.  Yes, faith is proven by how we live. 

Now lest you misinterpret what I am sharing, don't think actions  save us or how we are saved.  Our actions spring forth from the fact that we are saved. Doing all kinds of works will not get us into heaven, they are proof that we are a Christian and are walking in obedience  of faith to the truth of the Word.

A wedding ring does not make people married.  It is visible proof or an outward act to show they have made a commitment.  When you were baptized in water, that did not make you a Christian, or at that getting you into heaven, it is an outward action, that shows you have exercised faith in Jesus as you Savior and Lord, and are showing it with this outward action of your faith.

When you and I by our actions share our faith with others, it is an outward proof that we truly have faith, and are by our actions, obeying what Jesus said, go into all the world and share the Gospel.

Hence this is why we read  this scripture ,...

You can never please God without faith

(Heb. 11:6 T L B)

Now listen to what James goes on to say about this word faith in the same chapter.

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

James  2:19

So, when we say we have faith, let's remember what the definition of the word is from scripture, not somebody's opinion, not positive thinking , but in our life actions.

Along with that saying you are a Christian, or saying you belive Jesus died on the cross for our sins does not get you into heaven or make you a christian, but acting on it according to what truth says.  Here listen,...

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

Note closely it takes an action, saying it openly, that is faith that brings salvation your way.  If you have not done that you can today.
