MIND ENEMIES

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.

Many are ineffective in life because they simply have not learned how to think properly.

To do that we need to keep our minds from destructive thoughts.  Now, right now allow me to say, that is not easy.  Scripture teaches us we have three things working against that.  They are,...

1.  OUR SINFUL NATURE.  Truth says this,...

 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 

(Romans 7:23)

Ever find yourself doing things that you did not really want to do?  That is that battle within with our sinful nature battling against what we know is right.

2.  THE EVIL ONE (SATAN).  Remember years ago, that ridiculous saying "the devil made me do it" ?  Sorry, but Satan can't force me to do anything.  He can make suggestions, use other people, media, or insert negative thoughts in our minds.

​

3.  THE VALUE SYSTEM AROUND US.  Ever notice, much of our society does not encourage self discipline.  You deserve a break today, have it your way.  Ever notice, seems like nobody is working they are oll at the beach having a light beer.  Here is what truth says about this much better than I can ever,...

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

(I John 2:16)

With three enemies like this, no wonder, we struggle with, discouragement, temptation, despair, and failure.  

So what do we do?  Here let us let truth answer that question.

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

II Corinthians 10:3-5

We all have a choice, as to what we think about, so read our Insight scripture for this week again, hide it in your heart, think on those things, make it your life model, and the results with be nothing short of amazing!

The greatest thought is knowing Jesus is our friend that sticks with us at all times, and is there always.  Hopefully you do know Him personally, if not you can today.
